High Risk Pregnancies

A high-risk pregnancy is considered to be a pregnancy where additional factors threaten the health and/or life of the mother or baby.  Depending on the condition you are likely to require closer monitoring than normal, that may include additional scans and tests.  Some pregnancies start off normal but become high risk at later stages.

High Risk Pregnancy Factors Include:

  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Gestational diabetes
  • Being overweight or obese
  • Multiple births.
  • Young or old maternal age
  • Abnormal placenta position
  • Fetal growth restriction
