Hysteroscopic excision of polyps

An Hysteroscopic resection of polyp under direct vision provides several advantages over a traditional polypectomy including reduced risk of uterine perforation, reduced risk of adhesions/scarring, and more complete removal of polyps with lower recurrence rates.

During this procedure the hysteroscope (a thin telescope) is passed through the vagina and cervix into the uterus so the polyp can be viewed.  The uterus is expanded with a liquid and the polyp is removed via an electrical wire-loop or an instrument called a Myosure.
