It’s important for women, especially if you are over the age of 40 to regularly screen yourself for breast and uterine cancer.
Breast Cancer Screening
Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers to affect women and one of the leading cancer causing deaths among women. Early detection is essential.
A clinical breast exam is routine and quick, and in addition you can be shown how to perform a self exam.
Depending on your medical history a routine mammogram and possibly breast ultrasound would also be recommended.
Uterine Cancer Screening
Although a routine annual pap smear is recommended to screen for cervical cancer, it can also sometimes show signs of an abnormal endometrium (the lining of the uterus).
This would then need to be confirmed by follow up tests.
