A laparoscopic oophorectomy is a minimally invasive procedure to remove one (unilateral oophorectomy) or both ovaries (bilateral oophorectomy). The most common reasons why I would perform this procedure would be if you were experiencing the following conditions:
- Benign ovarian tumors or cysts
- Ovarian cancer
- Borderline tumours of the ovary
- Endometriosis
- Severe infection of the tube or ovary
- Ovarian torsion (adnexal torsion)
